About Us

The North Louisiana Trade Exchange is a full-service barter exchange. We promote a wide range of products and services on behalf of our clients. Businesses and professional individuals benefit from participation in the Exchange network through the opportunity to barter for their needs, which allows them to retain cash they would otherwise expend. It also creates a whole new base of customers to increase sales and improve the potential for profits.

WHAT IS BARTER?

In barter’s simplest form, two companies swap items of equivalent value. The North Louisiana Trade Exchange, however, opens up a whole new dimension. Now a company doesn’t have to find another company that simultaneously needs its product or service. Instead, many companies trade together within an exchange, allowing a company to offer its product & service, and then be able to choose from thousands of others.

THE “HOW” OF BARTER

The North Louisiana Trade Exchange completes trades for its clients much like a clearinghouse does for stocks, or a commercial bank does for checks. As an intermediary, the Exchange receives a commission on each transaction and saves all parties the trouble and process of collection, exchange of goods, or matching needs exactly with those of each party.

The transactions between companies are actually converted to barter credits or “trade dollars” (one trade dollar is equal to one U.S. dollar in value) and are reflected as balances in each trading company’s “trade account”. The accounts are maintained and serviced by the North Louisiana Trade Exchange. The transactions are credited immediately, so there are no receivables, collection efforts, or bad debts involved.

THE “WHY” OF BARTER

Wise traders trade for those things which they need, want or would normally spend cash on in the marketplace. By bartering, a company is able to:
  • Leave cash in the business.
  • Buy other products or services at its own wholesale cost.
  • Pay for its purchases with its own goods or services.
  • Spend “trade dollars” from new customers whose business the company would not have received otherwise.
  • Convert excess inventory or unused capacity into tangible assets.
